TASO is an independent organization, providing support, resources and training for Texas high school sports officials. With more than 150 local chapters serving 14,500+ members throughout the state, we are one of the largest professional organizations for sports officials in the country.
TASO works closely with The University Interscholastic League (UIL), the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS), the Texas High School Coaches Association, other Coaches Associations, The Texas High School Athletic Directors Association and many other organizations to ensure fair, challenging and safe athletic competition for Texas high school student athletes.

Since 1920, The National Federation of State High School Associations has led the development of education-based interscholastic sports and activities that help students succeed in their lives. We set directions for the future by building awareness and support, improving the participation experience, establishing consistent standards and rules for competition, and helping those who oversee high school sports and activities.

The NFHS, from its offices in Indianapolis, Indiana, serves its 50 member state high school athletic/activity associations, plus the District of Columbia. The NFHS publishes playing rules in 16 sports for boys and girls competition and administers fine arts programs in speech, theater, debate and music. It provides a variety of program initiatives that reach the 18,500 high schools and over 11 million students involved in athletic and activity programs.

WHAT IS THE MiLB UMPIRE TRAINING ACADEMY
The Minor League Baseball Umpire Training Academy was created by Minor League Baseball and is a natural extension of our efforts to expand and enhance umpire training at all levels. We have tabbed members of Minor League Baseball Umpire Development to drive the curriculum and instruction. This provides our students the one-of-a-kind opportunity to accelerate their development through Minor League Baseball Umpire Development’s unique knowledge and experience in training all Minor League Baseball umpires and developing them for a possible Major League Baseball umpire position. Since Minor League Baseball Umpire Development’s inception in 1997, every umpire hired by Major League Baseball has come through the Minor League Baseball Umpire Development system.

MLB Umpire Camps to Offer Free Clinics
Continuing with the success of the last year's camps, MLB Umpire Camps will again offer five free, one-day clinics in 2016. The camps offer training for umpires of all levels, from beginners to seasoned veteran umpires. Instructional staffs include long-time umpiring greats, such as: Bruce Froemming, Charlie Reliford, Randy Marsh, Larry Young, Ed Montague, and Ed Rapuano. These current MLB Supervisors, along with other pro-instructors will work with candidates on balls and strikes, base work, situation management, and much more!
